Where the Color of the Water and the Color of the Sky become One

A figure lies with her ear pressed against an earthen mound. Her body is encrusted with symbiotic growths of lichens that allude to a slow passage of time. The Earth seems as though it is whispering as the seams between land, sky, and water dissolve. The Bald Cypress of the South Florida Everglades extends in the background as Swallow Tailed Kite Birds soar in and out. My material process of painting aims to mimic the ebbs and flows in nature, with water as the creative matrix of life, it animates itself in the material event of watercolor. The pigments are suspended within shallow pools of water that evaporate slowly, revealing the footprint of its flow
